animFrayANIMATE WITH EASE
EasyFreak for Autodesk Maya

I know what I want the motion to do. Getting the keys there is another story.

That's why I built EasyFreak. I use it inside Maya's Graph Editor every day, whether I'm pushing a cartoony pose or working with mocap for a game or VFX shot. It gives me the curve controls I kept wanting when editing keyframes one by one was getting in the way.

THE STORY BEHIND EASYFREAK

This one has been with me for a while.

EasyFreak is one of many tools I've developed over the years while working professionally in the VFX and games industries — and it has become one of my favorites.

I first started developing EasyFreak during lunch breaks at Naughty Dog back in 2019. I shared it with other animators there, kept using it in production, and continued developing it as I moved from project to project and studio to studio.

Since then, EasyFreak has followed me through work at Naughty Dog, Framestore, Method, Company 3, Luma Pictures, Arc Creative, The Mill, Blacksmith VFX, Preymaker, Parliament, and JAMM. Each production brought different animation challenges, and whenever I came across something that slowed down my workflow or felt unnecessarily repetitive, EasyFreak grew a little further.

That is still how I develop it today.

EasyFreak is built around the way I actually animate: shaping keys, testing timing, polishing curves, experimenting with motion, and trying to keep creative momentum going inside Autodesk Maya. What started as a small personal tool has gradually evolved into a much larger collection of animation controls built from years of real production use.
